Muse, seemingly everyone’s favorite British rock band at the moment, have launched a viral campaign for one of their songs off their album, entitled ‘The Resistance’.
The song, United States of Eurasia, has been divided into snippets and put onto USB ports, which in turn have been hidden in Berlin, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Moscow, Paris and Dubai, where there are secret ‘agents’ looking after them.
When found, the stick has a code which must be entered at United Eurasia to proceed. When entered, a puzzle must be solved to unlock a piece of the song. So far, 4 out of the 6 sticks have been found, resulting in this, a Bohemian Rhapsody-esque type song (and when I say Bohemian Rhapsody-esque, I mean it blatantly imitates/rips off Queen).
Muse is not the first band to ever do something like this, however. Nine Inch Nails had a similar campaign back in 2007.
Muse’s ‘The Resistance’ will drop on September 14th, and is the follow-up album to 2006’s ‘Black Holes and Revelations’. The song ‘United States of Eurasia’ is the 4th song off the album, whose tracklist is as follows:
01. Uprising
02. Resistance
03. Undisclosed Desires
04. United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)
05. Guiding Light
06. Unnatural Selection
07. MK Ultra
08. I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S”Ouvre A Ta Voix)
09. Exogenesis: Symphony Part I (Overture)
10. Exogenesis: Symphony Part II (Cross Pollination)
11. Exogenesis Part III (Redemption)
