Since there has been a YouTube, there has always been an outlet for television clips that would otherwise go unnoticed and wash away into the abyss. Sometimes it can be hurtful to a television show to have clips leak online, but usually it’s a great way to get more eyes on your content. No genre of TV has seen more assistance from the Internet than talent shows. You may remember Susan Boyle’s performance on the British show X-Factor (soon to be brought over the States). If not, definitely check out the video her audition. That clip got over 36 million views and got people talking about the show.
American Idol has also seen success from the Internet, but usually in a different way. Some of the worst or funniest performances on the show go straight up the YouTube charts and into our hearts. This season is no exception, as we get a hilarious audition on the first night! The video, which has already gotten almost a million views in less than 2 days, shows an older contestant singing about pulling your pants up. A lesson we could all learn. Check it out:
