Get Ready for Dr. Horrible The Movie

One of the few good things to come out of the of 2007 Writers Guild strike was Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, a three-part Internet series that bypassed the studios and WGA rules. The TV episode-length film went viral and gained millions of fans (including myself). Since its release, the question has been whether if and when there would be a sequel. Fortunately there will be, but it won’t be an online vlog. Find out more after the break.

It looks like Whedon and Dr. Horrible star Neil Patrick Harris are looking to turn the musical blog into a feature length film. While it’s all talk right now, Slashfilm mentions several indicators that it could happen. It’s unclear if the potential sequel would have a theatrical or DVD release, but I’m hoping they go big.

If you have seen the Dr. Horrible, what do you think about a sequel? Should it be done? What direction should they take it? Let us know what you think in the comments below. You haven’t seen it, the DVD is available now, and here’s a trailer for the musical.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a 2008 musical tragicomedy short film produced exclusively for Internet distribution. It tells the story of Dr. Horrible (Harris), an aspiring supervillain; Captain Hammer (Castle‘s Nathan Fillion), his nemesis; and Penny (Felicia Day), their mutual love interest. Written by writer/director Joss Whedon, his brothers Zack Whedon (a television writer) and Jed Whedon (a composer), and actress Maurissa Tancharoen.
