Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we already showed you the first theatrical trailer for The Social Network. Now, see the other latest trailers that got all the buzz, including an M. Night Shyamalan movie that actually looks good!
Devil (September 17, 2010)
While Devil may be directed by the Dowdle brothers, the name we really care about is M. Night. The master of the twist is producing this thriller, which traps a group of people in an elevator with the devil. Below is the first trailer, which looks promising.
It’s Kind of a Funny Story (September 24, 2010)
Editors Pick: Directed and written by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, It’s Kind of a Funny Story is about a clinically depressed teen (Keir Gilchrist) who gets a new start when he’s checked into an adult psychiatric ward. Emma Roberts and Zach Galifianakis star in what looks to be quirky comedy. Check out the first trailer below.
Due Date (November 5, 2010)
Another Galifianakis film? This time Zach is teamed up with Robert Downey Jr. in Todd Phillips’ Due Date. This first trailer for the road trip comedy is surprisingly light on laughs, but given Phillips’ pedigree, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Exam (July 23, 2010 VOD)
Exam, a British psychological thriller written and directed by Stuart Hazeldine, has an interesting premise. Eight candidates for a corporate job are stuck in a room together for 80 minutes. They have to complete an exam put in front of them, but there is nothing written on the paper. What is the question, and what is the answer? Check out the US trailer below.
The Town (September 10, 2010)
I actually got to see a few clips from The Town at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and I was pretty impressed. Written and directed by Ben Affleck (who also stars), the crime drama follows a gang of bank robbers in the Boston area. Affleck’s character falls for one of their hostages and wants to leave the game, but his partner (played by Jeremy Renner) won’t have it. The first trailer for the film has gotten probably the most buzz this week.
