“TRON: Legacy” Visual Effects and Costume Interview Dan Koelsch, December 15, 2010December 14, 2010 Tron was known for being one of the most technologically advanced film in 1982, a computer world brought to life by humans inserting themselves into a computer world where they would wear light suits, drive light cycles, and battle evil programs. Nearly twenty plus years later, Disney has decided to revisit the Grid with TRON: Legacy, and although the premise of human as programs existing in the grid hasn’t changed, you noticed that the visual effects have. The visual effects team Tron Interviews: Daniel Simon (Vehicle Concept Designer), Christine Bieselin Clark (Costume Designer), & Eric Barba (VFX Supervisor) spoke about how much of that world has changed from a human pioneering a simple digital world to a complex fully functioning city. You can read more about the visual effects team by hitting the jump. Disney’s Tron has come a long way from where it used be. Sure the original film was not a financial success, but there we’re fans who wanted more of the Grid and Kevin Flynn. So twenty years later, after fans joyfully reacted to the 2008 teaser, we have our sequel and got a chance to speak to the visual effects team. In this interview we talk about de-aging Jeff Bridges, how the light suits functioned, and about certain scenes in the film. We also talked about vehicle designs, what the future has in store for them, the internal critique they had, and other technical aspects of Tron: Legacy.
