In what was suppose to be one rather exciting viral marketing campaigns of 2011, has turned into a figment of your imagination. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that Apollo 18 cannot find a solid release date. Box Office Mojo is reporting that the release date has shifted for a fifth time. The film is now scheduled to be released on September 2nd. Previously the film was set for an August 26th release date. Before that the film was scheduled for a January 2012 release. Given that there has been no updates to the viral , it seems rather obvious that Dimension films would turn its attention to finding release date they can settle on.
I was rather excited for this viral campaign. It had the conspiracy theory factor going for it and who doesn’t love a good conspiracy theory. The viral came with everything: Photos, videos, and a blog with documents revealing what happened to Apollo 18 and why we never went back. All of which explained why man has not returned to the moon in over forty years. But alas, with the unstable scheduling date, I doubt that we will ever see any updates for this film.
