Art Galleries Pay Tribute to Cult Movies and Harry Potter Michael Lee, July 7, 2011July 7, 2011 This weekend LA will be hosting two spectacular movie themed art galleries both of which should be very appealing to the hardcore movie fan. The first one is Gallery 1988’s Crazy 4 Cult. It’s the fifth time the gallery has hosted the event, which celebrates cult hits throughout the years. So you’ll see an artist interpretation of films like The Goonies, Pulp Fiction, Predator, Iron Giant, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The other is Nucleus’ Harry Potter Tribute Exhibition, which is a timelier event. This gallery is a collection of works that was gathered though private invitations, open submissions, and a common love for all things Harry Potter. If you are a fan of cinematic greatness or all things Harry Potter, then I suggest you check out these events. Gallery 1988’s Crazy 4 Cult’s opening reception is on Friday July 8. Those who are attending the opening event will receive a Crazy 4 Cult art book which can be signed on the Sunday at 12pm at the same location after the event happens. I’ve been to a couple of these events and they are very good and you get to see some very cool celebrities as well. The Harry Potter Exhibition is something new for those who enjoy movie art. However it is a two dollar entry fee, but free for those who come in costume. Here are just some of the cool things you can expect at the Harry Potter Event. Complimentary Butterbeer (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) Harry Potter Trivia Contest (sign in at gallery entrance, contestants picked at random) Snitch Seeking Competition Raffle prizes and giveaways (hourly) Mystery flavored Jelly Bellies tasting station Costume Contest (contestants sign in at gallery entrance)(3 staff judges.
