Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week was a relatively slow week in terms of movie trailer releases. No big tentpole movie trailers, but that shouldn’t deter you from watching these potentially good movies. This week we saw trailers for American Reunion, I Am Bruce Lee, Resident Evil: Retribution, Project X, and Jeff Who Lives At Home. Hit the jump to see them all.
American Reunion
This is the fourth entry in the American Pie franchise, and it looks just as funny and raunchy as the previous three. Everyone from the first two American Pie movies are reuniting for a high school reunion, and while some things may look like they have change, others have not. The movie has always been funny through and through, and I can’t expect anything less from American Reunion.
I Am Bruce Lee
The man, the legend, the one and only Bruce Lee, the action star who litearlly catapulted Asian cinema to where it is today. The documentary will explore the life and legacy of Bruce Lee and will feature many celebrates like Mickey Rourke, Ed O’Neill, Manny Pacquiao, Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo, Haywire’s Gina Carano and yes, even Kobe Bryant.
Resident Evil: Retribution
I’ve never seen a movie franchise who’s never tired of getting so much negative reviews, alas we are getting another Resident Evil Retribution movie. But for the first third of this trailer, you might not think that you are watching a movie trailer, but a commercial for Sony products. Sure the flashy action scenes and zombie kills might be fun to watch on the big screen, but it gets tiresome after four movies.
Project X
Todd Philips found footage-esque movie about a high school party that goes terribly out of control. This trailer features a bit of the same footage from the last trailer and adds some buzz with the use of positive comments infused within it. I don’t expect to laugh too much during the movie, since I am clearly past the stage of sneaking around booze, girls, and parties. But there are some moments where I did laugh. A little man popping out of an oven and punching a kid in the crotch and me chuckle a bit.
Jeff Who Lives at Home
Mark and Jay Duplass are back and they are taking on awkward family dynamics and adding their own brand of comedy. You can never go wrong with a Duplass comedy, especially since they only use the medium to slightly blanket their underlining messages. While most comedies are generic and stale, Jeff Who Lives at Home looks absolutely wonderful and heartfelt.
