Trailers Weekly: “The Avengers”, “Frankenweenie”, “Touchback”, “Bernie”, “Neighborhood Watch”, and “ParaNorman” Michael Lee, March 3, 2012March 3, 2012 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We have the brand new trailer exciting trailer for The Avengers. The first trailer for Tim Burton’s Frankenstein canine hybrid Frankenweenie, the Kurt Russell powered football drama Touchback, the dark comedy Bernie, and Akiva Schaffer’s sci-fi comedy Neighborhood Watch. Finally we have the second trailer for the whimsy stop-motion animated horror Paranormal. Hit the jump to see them all. The Avengers The words that describe how incredible this trailer is for The Avengers will most likely not do it any justice. This trailer by far is one of the best trailers I have seen from all the promotional material. It was even the most downloaded trailer on Apple, beating out The Dark Knight Rises. Hopefully the more does more than deliver the goods. Frankenweenie Finally a trailer for one of Tim Burton’s two movies we will be seeing this year and the thing is, Frankenweenie comes out later this year, while Dark Shadows opens in theaters in May. Back to Frankenweenie. Tim Burton shows why he is a master at his craft. I saw some footage of Frankenweenie and the actual dog itself at last years D23, and based on the material I saw, this movie has everything that a Burton fan could want in a Burton directed movie. Touchback Friday Night Lights may be over, but the power of a good football drama will continue to live on. However there isn’t much star power behind this movie, in fact only Kurt Russell is fueling Touchback. And with some rather weak dialogue, this movie won’t go to far. Bernie I love a dark comedy, and a mortician, whom is loved by his entire town, killing the town’s bitch is something that I gravitate towards. Jack Black looks perfect for the part and Shirely MacLaine is absolutely hilarious as the town bitch. Matthew McConaughy looks surprisingly good too. Neighborhood Watch The first trailer for Akiva Schaffer’s sci-fi comedy lacked the sci-fi elements and was more of an announcement trailer than a teaser trailer. But it served its purpose to let audiences know that this movie does exist. Jonah Hill doesn’t look like he’s lost his comedic touch and seems to be able to keep up with Ben Stiller’s berating. ParaNorman Lakia’s follow up to Coraline continues to surprise me with each and every trailer. Previous trailers focused on Norman and his supernatural abilities that allow him to communicate with the dead. But this trailer is more story focused. This movie looks like it will be just filled with all kinds of mischievous fun and comedic horror antics. How can anyone not want to watch a movie like this? What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite? Do you agree with the Internet buzz? Of course, every week there are a lot more trailers, teasers, TV spots, and clips that we can’t cover, so go to TrailerAddict.com to see your favorites.
