Trailers Weekly: “Jack Reacher”, “Carrie”, “Killing Them Softly”, “Mama” and “Skyfall” Michael Lee, October 20, 2012 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week provided us with so many trailers, so of course we will post our favorite ones this week, which include Carrie, Skyfall, Mama, Killing Them Softly, and Jack Reacher. Hit the jump to see them all. Carrie Earlier this week we posted an article about a viral for Carrie. The website WhatHappenedToCarrie.com, teased you to call Carrie for a bad time. Now almost all of us (at least the ones familiar with the movie) knows what happens to Carrie. This seems to be an updated version of that film, or some sort of mega budget anti-bullying video. Carrie stars Chole Moretz and Julianne Moore, and opens in theaters Spring 2013. Jack Reacher Tom Cruise plays as the titular hero who doesn’t seem to look like what literature describes him as. The novels portray the hero has a large brutish an extremely intelligent ex-military assassin. Unlike the previous trailer, this new one shows off more of the supporting cast: Werner Herzog as the villain, Jai Courtney, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, David Oyelowo, and Robert Duvall. Yup, Werner Herzog as a villain. Now if that isn’t cool I don’t know what is. Jack Reacher opens in theaters on December 21. Killing Them Softly The Brad Pitt starring vehicle features all sorts of new footage, which leads us to believe that there will be a new domestic trailer coming out soon. Directed by Andrew Dominik, the film stars Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell, Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, and more. Killing Them Softly opens in theaters on November 30th. Cogan : Killing Them Softly Mama The second trailer for the Guillermo Del Toro produced Mama has appeared online. Like most of Del Toro films there is a subtle supernatural creep factor to this movie. The film stars Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and opens in theaters on January 18th, 2013. Skyfall At this point it would be futile to tell you anything new about Skyfall, because we pretty much detailed it all for you already. Daniel Craig reprises his role as the 007 agent for the third time and this time he squares off against Javier Bardem, who plays as the villain. Need I say more? Skyfall opens in theaters on November 9th in the states, but U.K. residences get to see the film on October 26th. Lucky. What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite?
