Trailers Weekly: “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “Yeezus,” Topher Grace’s “Star Wars Prequel Re-Edit,” And More

TrailersWeekly

Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Sacrament, Yeezus, The Double and a film you won’t ever see in theaters, no not a porno, but Topher Grace‘s Star Wars Prequel Re-Edit. Hit the jump to check them all out.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Sacrament

From acclaimed writer/director Ti West (THE INNKEEPERS, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) and master of horror Eli Roth (THE LAST EXORCISM, HOSTEL, CABIN FEVER), THE SACRAMENT follows two Vice Media correspondents as they set out to document their friend’s journey to find his missing sister. They travel outside of the United States to an undisclosed location where they are welcomed into the world of “Eden Parish,” a self-sustained rural utopia, comprised of nearly two hundred members. At the center of this small, religious, socialist community is a mysterious leader known only as “Father.” As their friend reunites with his sister, it becomes apparent to the newcomers that this paradise may not be as it seems. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a race to escape with their lives.

Yeezus

Here is the first trailer for Kanye West’s upcoming movie Yeezus, from director Hype Williams. The Canyons’ writer Bret Easton Ellis also played a contributing part in this film which looks like more than just your average concert documentary. Apparently West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, is supposed to have some sort of pivotal role in the film, with Liam Neeson rumored to play as Jesus, a figure that has been prominent in almost all of West’s recent concert tour.

Topher Grace’s Star Wars Prequel Re-Edit

As some hardcore film fans may know, Topher Grace did a re-edit of all three Star Wars prequel films, and compiled them into one movie. The result, a spectacular telling of the Anikin Skywalker story that could easily have been a film itself. Many who have seen the rough cut say it does away with the political nonsense, Jar-Jar Binks, and other useless subplots and gives us a true backstory on the character that gave way to the original trilogy. Unfortunately this cut was shown only once to a few handful of people who were invited to see it. If only Disney would allow this cut to be seen. Maybe if they can strike a deal with Mr. Grace it could happen.

The Double
Simon (Jesse Eisenberg) is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon’s exact physical double and his opposite – confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon’s horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.
