TrailersWeekly

Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from Clouds of Sils Maria, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Unbroken, Wild, and The Captive. Hit the jump to see them all.

Clouds of Sils Maria
In Olivier Assayas’ latest film, Juliette Binoche as an actress forced to confront the progression of time and her career. Once an A-list star who got all the roles she wanted, she is now reduced to be cast aside to playing supporting roles to young starlets like Chloe Grace Moretz. Kirsten Stewart plays Binoche’s assistant.

Exodus: Gods and Kings
Ridley Scott’s adaptation of The Book of Exodus stars Christian Bale as Moses, the man who would lead the Jews to freedom from Egyptian slavery. Joel Edgerton will play Pharaoh Ramses. The film will also cover Moses’ life from adoptive infancy, to the brotherly relationship between himself and Ramses. As you can see, the film looks to be visually stunning, but forgets that Bale and Edgerton are both Caucasian, and not Egyptian or Jewish. We’ll have to see how that all works out when the film hits theaters on December 12.

Unbroken
Based on the Laura Hillenbrand book, Unbroken tells the story of Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) whose life from punk kid to Olympic athlete to World War II soldier, and POW suvivor became a story of inspiration. Unbroken is Angelina Jolie‘s sophomore directorial effort, and it also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Takamasa Ishihara, Garrett Hedlund, and Finn Wittrock. The film opens in theaters December 25.

Wild
Wild is Jean-Marc Vallée‘s follow-up to the Oscar Nominated The Dallas Buyers Club. The film centers on Cheryl Strayed’s real-life story and memoir. In the film, Cheryl (Reese Witherspoon) goes on a 1000 mile hiking trip to the Northwest after suffering the loss of her mother and the collapse of her marriage. This looks like it could be just the thing to get Witherspoon another Oscar nomination after her Oscar win for Walk The Line. Fox will release Wild on December 5.

The Captive
This is the second trailer for Atom Egoyan‘s The Captive. Ryan Reynolds plays a father who makes a stop to pick dessert with her daughter. But after leaving her for a brief moment, he returns to find her missing, and is soon the target of an investigation by a detective (Rosario Dawson). However as the case begins to unravel, it is believed that the kidnapping could have been staged and that she may be alive. The film hits theaters this September.
