Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from Horns, Paradise Lost, Laggies, Ouija, and Annabelle. There won’t be a trailers weekly next week as the MovieViral team will be off covering the San Diego Comic-Con. Horns
Daniel Radcliffe plays a young man whose girlfriend dies after a horrorific accident. Most believe that he is responsible. But after he wakes up, he discovers that he has new horns on his head. These horns give him the power to make people reveal their inner thoughts. The film also stars Juno Temple and Sabrina Carpenter.
Paradise Lost
Benicio Del Toro is the famed drug kingpin Pablo Escobar in Paradise Lost. The brief teaser isn’t enough to tell us what the film is about, but if you are familiar with Escobar, then no explanation is needed. But the Paradise Lost trailer doesn’t promote itself as a biopic or accurate biography, so it should be interesting to see what the film is. Paradise Lost also stars Josh Hutcherson.
Laggies
We’ve seen many films about the over-educated underemployed twentysomething year old. But because Laggies stars Keira Knightely, Chole Moretz, and Sam Rockwell, it is something we may actually consider watching. In the film a 28 year old woman (Knightley) lacks the direction she needs to find her purpose in life, that is until a teenager (Moretz) asks her to buy beer for her and her friends. This leads to a strange and complex relationship with her and her single dad (Rockwell). The film opens on October 28.
Ouija
Films based on board games haven’t proven themselves to be a successful business model. Clue wasn’t a huge hit, but has a descent cult following, and we all know what happened to Battleship, but Ouija may just be the thing to get studios to produce more board game film adaptations. The film follows a group of kids who are trying to communicate with their deceased friend via Ouija board. Although, videos reveal that she doesn’t know where the board came from or why she has it. Oujia opens in theaters on October 24.
Annabelle
The Annabelle doll from The Conjuring was scary enough that it deserved its own movie, and thankfully the success of the film spurred WB to create a spinoff appropirately titled Annabelle. The film will follow a young couple who are just about to have their first child. But the young soon to be mother’s fascination with doll attracts some evil. Whether or not this evil is alive or spiritual is unknown, and the trailer doesn’t help establish that. The film stars Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard, Ward Horton, Tony Amendola, Eric Ladin, and Brian Howe. Annabelle opens in theaters on October 3.
