The park is open—early! In a curious move, Universal Pictures has officially released the first full trailer for next summer’s Jurassic World two days before it’s heavily-promoted premiere during NFL football on Thanksgiving evening. As for the reason why the Jurassic World trailer release was moved up, I think it might just have something to do with another major 2015 release that recently announced its own trailer premiere this Friday. While the move negates the purpose of the film’s viral marketing efforts so far (oddly, the trailer countdown is still running on the Jurassic World website), it’s ultimately a smart move on the part of Universal Pictures. Garner a couple extra days of buzz now and celebrate the trailer’s Thanksgiving premiere on primetime television, because come Friday, everyone will be talking about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
