Gavin Hood’s film X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a perfect example of how comic book movies aren’t meant to be made like this. While Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber are strong in this film, the rest of the weak characters and some storyline plot holes , the first big summer movie is mediocre and disappointing. When anticipating this film, i remembered how Wolverine is one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time. His personality and story has really interested me as a child, reading the comics and buying action figures to play with. This movie has defeated my hopes of how Fox has really fucked up on each X-Men movie. The first two films were good but it started going downhill after that, along with the studio that’s producing them.
The film starts out with the origins of Wolverine, seeing his way fight many wars like the American Civil War, World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War along his brother’s side, Victor Creed. One scene was really moving was Victor saving a girl form being raped by a commanding officer in Vietnam, which concluded their deaths but using regeneration abilities, they are still alive.
The film then goes along by how Victor and James are introduced to Team X, led by William Stryker and other mutants. Then the problems start with this film. As Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber are strong acting performances, all the other characters are weak and flat. Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson (Deadpool) was decent but i expected more from him in this film. The worst character done was Gambit (played by Taylor Kitsch), they completely messed up the character and the actor’s performance didn’t help the situation.
The action scenes in this movie were well done but the CGI still looked unfinished and mediocre at best. Also add in that ridiculous scene when Wolverine destroys the helicopter with his claws. Overall this film had the potential do be better but it ended up being disappointing with a capital D, with good action scenes, mediocre CGI, poor supporting cast and some plot delusions, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was the first summer bust for me. The box office numbers won’t reflect that because this is Wolverine, one of the best comic book characters of all time and popular with kids and adults alike. Too bad this film won’t live up to that prestige.
PS: I saw an alternate ending scene during the credits. It was the scene with Weapon XI (Deadpool) hand reaching out of the rubble from the nuke complex, then……….well you have to see this for yourself.

DISTRICT 9 trailer review
Well, the trailer MovieViral has been waiting for is now up at Apple.com and many film sites but i got to see this bad boy in the cinema. Let’s just say the trailer was excellent. That shot of the spaceship with MNU helicopters overhead was super awesome on the big screen. Also that the text “they are not human” gave me the chills. Also the alien was kinda scary when up close and blurred but overall i thought the trailer was well made but very unexpected. Tell that to people in my cinema. They were all “WTF?” and i smiled. For those people who saw it online only, i recommend watching this trailer in the cinema for sure.
