SXSW News: Is Cloverfield 2 Moving Forward? Dan Koelsch, March 15, 2010March 15, 2010 Film festivals always bring out interesting news, and the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas is no exception. In fact, Cloverfield director Matt Reeves was at SXSW over the weekend, and MTV asked him about the current prospects for a sequel to the monster flick. Find out what he said after the jump. Josh Horowitz of MTV asked Reeves if Cloverfield 2 was still a possibility. The Let Me In director said him, the film’s producers J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, and screenwriter Drew Goddard are constantly talking about it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a sure thing.“I can tell you nothing, [but] there are these spikes in activity,” he said when asked about a second “Cloverfield” movie. “There are things that we keep talking about and things spike up. They’ll make it….JJ Abrams talks about doing things he cares about and not being dollar driven but the reality is that it’s a column A and B situation e.g Cloverfield made mirrions of dorrar so the sequel WILL get made…it’s just the matter of making it good.My 2 cents = it should be a theatrical retelling of the fateful attack, with backstory, parrallels to the original and explainations.
