Robert Rodriguez’s Newest Film Stars Kobe Bryant Dan Koelsch, February 3, 2011 We’ve seen big name directors try their hand at commercials before, so it should be no surprise that Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Machete) has taken the plunge with Nike. Rodriguez directed a short film starring Los Angeles Lakers basketball phenom Kobe Bryant called The Black Mamba (Bryant’s nickname for being a fierce competitor). The film will debut on Nike’s Facebook page on February 19th, the weekend of the NBA All-Star Game. See the first two trailers after the break, as well an interview with Rodriguez and Bryant and the poster. As you can tell from the trailers and posters below, the film will have cameos from Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo, and Kanye West. Willis and Trejo are both Rodriguez regulars, but it will be interesting to see how West plays into all of this. The ads are very Machete-like, but with Sin City-like visuals.
