FOX’s “Terra Nova” Starts Viral Campaign Dan Koelsch, August 10, 2011 One of the most anticipated new shows this Fall is the FOX sci fi drama Terra Nova from executive producer Steven Spielberg. The series is about a group of colonists from 2149 who travel back in time and settle on prehistoric Earth since the human race is facing extinction in the future thanks to pollution. A viral campaign has been created to make you want to join the colony. Get the details after the break. I was lead to the LiveTerraNova.com website from a video that was posted to the FOX YouTube channel. I’m sure this will be used as a television ad on the network as well to entice peoples’ curiosity. The site plays out as a Hub for a lottery for “The Eleventh Pilgrimage”, which is presumably the name of the colony featured on the series. Getting a second chance at life is probably pretty popular, so I can see where a lottery would be needed. There are several different nodes you can choose, and the whole thing connects through Facebook (like these things so often do).The first node is an Evaluation Test to see who your group would be, what position would be best for you (Medical Staff for me), and eventually even if your group would make the cut. There are more tests that are coming soon, including “Endurance”, “Recall”, and “Dexterity”. There’s a “Top Stories” node with news headlines that help you get a better picture of what is going on. There’s an sponsor node for Rebreathex, a company that makes breathing masks to counteract the poor air quality of 2149. There’s even a node that uses Facebook to provide live weather info on your city, as well as a node for the video featured above.Take a look at the site for yourself and let us know what you think. Do you think you have what it takes to win the lottery? Terra Nova premieres on September 26th at 8/7c on Fox. Follow the film on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
