Trailers Weekly: “Total Recall”, “TED”, “A Fantastic Fear of Everything”, “To Rome with Love”, “Savages”, “High School” Michael Lee, April 7, 2012December 27, 2012 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we got the first trailers for Len Wiseman’s vision of Total Recall, Seth MacFarlane’s directorial debut TED (red-band), the new Simon Pegg comedy A Fantastic Fear of Everything, and Woody Allen’s return to the acting in To Rome with Love. We also got two fantastic drug related movies; Oliver Stone’s slam-bang flick Savages and the indie pot comedy High School starring Adrian Brody.Total Recall Len Wiseman’s take on the Philip K. Dick short story looks really magnificent and surprisingly well done. That scene of Colin Farrell gunning down the futuristic law enforcement was all done in one take, and according to the director is a very practical thing. The movie stars Collin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel. It’ll hit theaters August 3, 2012.TED Looking past the fact that Seth MacFarlane decided to use his Peter Griffin/Brain Griffin voice as opposed to a unqiue one, TED is a hilarious comedy filled with drugs, sex, alcohol, and what seems to be the public acknowledging the fact that a teddy bear is walking amongst the public. TED stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Seth MacFarlane as the voice of TED, the movie hits theaters on July 13, 2012.A Fantastic Fear of Everything Before we see Star Trek II and the end of the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, we will see Simon Pegg in A Fantastic Fear of Everything. The dark comedy stars Pegg as a children’s book author who has “a fantastic fear of everything”. Helmed by music video director Chris Hopewell and Kula Shaker frontman Chrispian Mills, A Fantastic Fear of Everything hits theaters this summer. To Rome with Love Woody Allen is back and following up his hit Midnight in Paris with To Rome with Love. The film marks Allen’s first return to the big screen as an actor since his own 2006 film Scoop, and he’s joined by a stellar cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Penelope Cruz, Greta Gerwig, Roberto Benigni and more. To Rome with Love opens in theaters on June 22nd.SAVAGES This beautiful trailer from Oliver Stone’s Savages blends action, sex, drugs, color, and a slam bang style that hasn’t been seen since Natural Born Killers. The movie stars Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson as two drug dealers who must save their girlfriend (Blake Lively, and yes they share one woman) from a drug cartel (Salma Hayek). Savages opens in theaters on July 6th. High School After sitting on the shelf for two years, High School, the Sundance Film Festival hit follows a valedictorian student afraid of failing a random drug test after he tried smoking weed for the first time. So they seek the services of “Psycho Ed” (Adrian Brody), to get the entire high school high so that everyone fails the test. It looks quite crazy and quite hilarious. Its almost as if Adrian Brody is taking Sean Penn’s career and going in reverse. The movie hits theaters on June 1st. What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite?
