Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we got the fantastic first trailers for P.T. Anderson’s The Master, Sam Mendes’ James Bond flick Skyfall,Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, and two trailers for Anchorman: The Legend Continues. We also got the red-band trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Hit the jump to see them all.
The Master
The one film that I have been waiting to see. There isn’t too much story to build on, but Joaquin Phoenix’s return to the silver screen should be a good enough reason to watch this movie. Based on his chilling performance should be more than enough of a reason to watch the film.
Skyfall
The first trailer for Skyfall is perhaps the best teaser out there. The trailer provides very little information – we don’t even see what Javier Bardem looks like – but offers enough action and clues that tell us Bond is coming back.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues
Those four news anchors from San Diego are back, and they haven’t lost their touch. Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner are all returning to reprise their roles as the very questionable anchormans. But like some of the teasers in the post, the teaser doesn’t provide a lot of info. Instead we get a lot of historical idioms that tease nothing but the comedy that you can expect to see in the sequel.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
For me there isn’t a whole lot to be excited about for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Looking at the film it seems too ridiculous even for a summer popcorn flick. I really hope there is more of a story than Lincoln just hacking and slashing vampires.
The Great Gatsby
Baz Luhrmann has a taste for colors, lights, and tragic romance. All of that is present in his adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Though the film focuses on 1920’s America, there is a contemporary feel to the teaser.
