Trailers Weekly: “Prince Avalanche”, “The Conjuring”, “Escape Plan, “The Counselor”

Michael Lee, June 29, 2013

TrailersWeekly

Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we have trailers for Prince Avalanche, The Conjuring, Escape Plan, Thanks For Sharing, and The Counselor, Hit the jump for more.

Prince Avalanche
David Gordon Green takes a break from the mainstream comedies he normally directs to direct something with more indie flair but with something that still has mainstream stars like Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. After leaving the city behind two men, who repaint traffic lines damaged by a recent wildfire begin to be absorbed by the breathtaking landscape and start to learn more about each other than themselves.

The Conjuring
The third and final trailer for James Wan‘s newest directorial effort that hits theaters July 19. This trailer though is unlike any other, as this one has the family recount the events that were the base inspiration behind this film. The Conjuring stars Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor, and more. Read our review here.

Escape Plan
There are trailers that reveal too much, then there are trailers that reveal way too much. Escape Plan falls into that category. When an expert escape artist who exposes a prison’s weaknesses for a living (Sylvester Stallone) is hired to find the flaws of a supposed inescapable prison, he finds out that no one knows where he is, and that everything that was originally planned, has drastically changed. He teams up with Arnold Schwarzenegger to break out and find out the real reason he was put there.

The Counselor
Though the trailer clocks in at less than 50 seconds, Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor, written by Cormac McCarthy) looks to be one of the best films of the year. Michael Fassbender plays a lawyer in desperate need of some money, so he decides to do business with the drug cartels. BUt things start to get shady when his best friend (Javier Bardem) brings in a very dangerous man (Brad Pitt). The film also stars Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. The Counselor opens in theaters on October 25.
