Aside from having a towering presence in Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man, OsCorp lacked its two of its most prolific characters: Norman and Harry Osborn. As the first film established, OsCorp doctors were working around the clock (and off the books) to find a cure for an ailing Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper), who was no where to be seen. Also missing nor mentioned was Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan). Now a brand new article from The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s viral site: The Daily Bugle, explains why Harry was missing from the film. Hit the jump to find out why.

Here is the full article from The Daily Bugle‘s tumblr site.

Norman Osborn, CEO of OsCorp Industries, not seen in public or heard from in months, remains in seclusion amidst growing speculation about the severity of his condition.

The mounting concern for Osborn’s health, combined with OsCorp Industries’ recent problems with Dr. Curt Connors, has generated increased focus on the readiness of the company’s heir apparent, Harry Osborn, to assume control of the multinational conglomerate.

When asked for an official statement about Harry’s role with the company, the standard company PR line is “Harry is currently studying in Europe.”

After being shown photographic evidence of Harry partying on the Riviera with a bevy of barely-clad supermodels, OsCorp’s spokesman Donald Menken said, “A snapshot cannot capture a life. Harry is a brilliant young man with a very bright future. He may be a little green, but the future is bright.

These fun articles are helping bridge that gap between the first and second films, and are also explaining why some characters were missing from the first film or what happened to others like Dr. Connors. Plus the “he may be a little green” tease is a nice gesture to the young Osborn’s inevitable transformation into one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes.

Recent articles posted have made references to Fancy Dan, Montana, and Ox, better known as The Enforcers. While another article was written by Fredrick Foswell, better known as The Big Man. Now we can’t be sure that they will appear in the final film, but the fact that these articles are making reference to them shows how expansive Sony’s retooled Spider-Man movie world really is.

Who else could we see in future Amazing Spider-Man 2 viral campaigns? Sandman? Mystero? Kraven? Hobgoblin? Scorpion? The possibilities are endless, and with a May 2 release date set, The Daily Bugle tumblr site still has many villains to sift through.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field.
