‘Big Hero 6’ Clip: Baymax Gives Hiro An Unwanted Diagnosis

Michael Lee, September 2, 2014September 2, 2014

We are all pretty excited about the upcoming Big Hero 6.  For one thing it is Disney’s first Marvel inspired animated film, which is based on the Marvel’s comic book series of the same name. Another reason is we have a special feature article on our visit to the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA to learn more about the film that we will post tomorrow.  So after two trailers, and some small panels at pop culture conventions, we are getting a brand new clip from the film.

The clip gives us a true introduction to Hiro and Baymax, our two lead characters.  It also establishes the chemistry between the two, as Hiro is the typical prepubescent teen who feels like Baymax’s insentient need to make sure his patient is okay is like a violation of his personal space.  Of course Baymax doesn’t quite understand that since he is healthcare robot programed to make sure his patients are okay at any signs or sounds of distress.

As aforementioned we will have special coverage on Big Hero 6 tomorrow.

Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, Big Hero 6 features the voices of Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, Damon Wayans Jr., T.J. Miller, Alan Tudyk, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, with Ryan Potter as Hiro Hamada and Scott Adsit as Baymax.  It opens in theaters and IMAX 3D on November 7.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.

Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.

February 6, 2011

Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite space comedies, as it perfectly parodies the Star Trek universe without trashing it. The film is about over-the-hill actors from a Star Trek-like TV series (called Galaxy Quest, of course) who have to go a real-life space adventure. Just before the film was…
