Trailers Weekly: ‘Knock, Knock’, ‘Digging Up The Marrow’, ‘She’s Funny That Way’, And More Michael Lee, January 24, 2015 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from Knock, Knock, Digging Up The Marrow, Good Kill, Underdogs, Everly, and The Gunman. Hit the jump to check them out.The Gunman A gripping action-thriller from the director of Taken and the producer of The Matrix and Non-Stop, The Gunman stars Oscar-winner Sean Penn as a former military operative dragged into a deadly cat and mouse game. With Penn in his first action role, and a top-notch cast including Javier Bardem and Idris Elba, The Gunman is a high-octane must-see. The film opens March 15, 2015. Everly Starring Salma Hayek, Jennifer Blanc, and Togo Igawa, Everly is an action/thriller centered on a woman who faces down assassins sent by her ex, a mob boss, while holed up in her apartment. Everly comes to on demand on January 23. Underdogs From Academy Award® winning director Juan Jose Campanella comes UNDERDOGS, an animated comedy with a little bit of magic and a whole lot of heart. Jake (Matthew Morrison) is a shy, but talented, foosball player. His passion for the game is rivaled only by his love for free-spirited Laura (Ariana Grande). With her encouragement, he beats the town bully, Ace (Nicholas Hoult), in a foosball game. But everything changes when Ace becomes the world’s best soccer player and returns years later to turn their village into a new sports stadium. He starts to destroy everything and kidnaps Laura in the process. Just when it looks like all hope is lost, the toy figures from Jake’s foosball table come to life. He and the players embark on a wild adventure to save Laura and reclaim their village. With the help of his team, his town, and a little bit of magic, Jake will try to save the day. Underdogs opens April 10. Good Kill Good Kill tells the story of a Las Vegas fighter-pilot turned drone-pilot (Ethan Hawke), who fights the Taliban via remote control for half of his day, then goes home to his wife (January Jones) and kids in the suburbs for the other half. But the pilot is starting to question the mission. Is he creating more terrorists than he’s killing? Is he fighting a war without end? One soldier’s tale with epic implications. GOOD KILL is a visually stunning exploration of how a man’s psychological, emotional and moral boundaries are challenged by the realities of 21st century warfare. The film initiates an important dialogue about the current techniques used in modern war, and in the same vein as THE HURT LOCKER and FULL METAL JACKET, illustrates how war is constantly being redefined according to the technologies and methods in play. No US release date has been set. She’s Funny That Way A married Broadway director falls for a prostitute-turned-actress and works to help her advance her career. She’s Funny That Way stars Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Jennifer Aniston, Will Forte, Kathryn Hahn, Rhys Ifans, and Lucy Punch. It opens April 10. Digging Up The Marrow What if the ghastly images and abominations haunting our collective nightmares actually exist? Writer/director Adam Green (Hatchet) sets out to make a documentary exploring this tantalizing premise after being contacted by a mysterious man named William Dekker (Ray Wise). Dekker claims he can prove that “monsters are real” and insists these grotesque creatures are forgotten, hideously deformed humanoids inhabiting a vast, underground metropolis of the damned. Determined to expose the truth, Green embarks on a bone-chilling odyssey and gets more than he bargains for when he dares to go Digging Up the Marrow. Knock, Knock Evan Webber (Keanu Reeves) is living the dream. Just look at his beautiful, successful wife, his two wonderful kids, and his truly stunning house—which he designed himself. Of course he did. Things are going so well, Evan doesn’t even mind spending Father’s Day alone while the rest of his family heads out for a beach weekend. And then there’s a knock on the door. The two young women (Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas) standing on Evan’s doorstep are where Evan’s dream takes a nightmarish turn. Given co-writer/director Eli Roth’s well-deserved reputation for creating cinematic discomfort, it should come as no surprise what happens next: Things get weird, and then dark, and then much, much, much darker. But this is no splatter film, so Roth keeps the horror nice and psychological as Evan’s life—and house—get ripped apart, piece by beautiful piece. Post by Eli Roth.Which was your favorite?
