Review: The Hangover

Matt, June 6, 2009July 5, 2010

After seeing the trailer for this a few months ago, I was eagerly anticipating this flick. Once I actually saw it though, I was disappointed. It was consistently funny, but there were no “OMG ROTFLMAO” moments.  The main problem with this movie consists of the marketing team giving away the best jokes in the movie during the trailer. The only thing that actually surprised me, was Mike Epps, who with little screen time is around the 3rd funniest charecter in the film (The other two being Mike Tyson and Mr. Chow).

The best performance of the main three is definately Bradley Cooper as the lovable douchebag, Phil. Ed Helms was also great in this movie, his end scene with Rachael Harris was amazingly awesome. The real bummer here is Zach Galifianakis, who is suprisingly the least funny role in the movie, in a film full of smart characters and themes, his portrayal of the Man-Child ‘Alan’ sticks out in being a weak spot.

Overall, Im disappointed, I expected a roll on the floor comedy, and I got a consistent chuckle comedy. The only roll on the floor laughing moment that wasnt revealed in the trailer would be the ending montage, which I have to admit, was comedy gold. If you’re going to check it out, see it at a matinee. It made my experience better knowing that I spent $15.00 on this intead of $22.50.

7/10

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is definitely an improvement from its predecessor Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. However, I say that with if there was something smaller than a grain of salt. That improvement although miniscule is an improvement, and the only reason why it is such an improvement is…

When people think about how film scores are done, they usually think of the works of people like John Williams, Alan Silvestri, and Danny Elfman; orchestral pieces that still hold up today. However, with the release of the highly-anticipated soundtrack for TRON: Legacy, all that is about to change. The…

July 20, 2012July 20, 2012

In 2008, many people thought that Christopher Nolan had made the ultimate Batman movie. They thought that if he were to come back and do another, it wouldn’t be able to top The Dark Knight. What I’ve come to realize about this trilogy is, you can’t look at each film…

Zach Galifianakis was awesome in this movie. Everyone was. Hell, even the credits were kick-ass.
