“Glee” Covers Rebecca Black’s “Friday”

In March, a girl by the name of Rebecca Black quickly rose to fame as one of the most disliked people on the planet. It was all because of a song about everybody’s favorite day of the week, Friday. The official video has over 100 million views on YouTube and over 2 million ‘dislikes’. This song has gone viral in every sense of the word! Next Tuesday, one of the most beloved shows on television is going to do something that will probably garner its lowest ratings ever. Glee is covering Friday. Hit the jump to hear it!

In Tuesday’s episode, “Prom Queen” (directed by Eric Stoltz), several guys of the New Directions: Kevin McHale (Artie), Chord Overstreet (Sam) and Mark Salling (Puck) will sing their version of Black’s song. Listen to it below:

Personally, I don’t like it and being a Gleek, I usually like most Glee covers. This isn’t the first time Glee has done a cover of an artist that most people dislike. For their post-Valentine’s Day episode, Chord Overstreet covered Justin Bieber’s Baby to mostly positive reviews. What do you think of the cover?

This isn’t the first time Glee has done a cover of an artist that most people dislike.” Then you cite the cover of “Baby” as receiving mostly positive reviews, which is true. What does the “Baby” cover have to do with poorly received songs?
