Trailers Weekly: “Beauty and the Beast 3D,” “The Woman in Black,” “The Darkest Hour,” “Newlyweds,” and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” Michael Lee, November 26, 2011November 26, 2011 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We didn’t get a lot this his Thanksgiving week in terms of trailer release. Regardless we love our trailers, and this week we saw trailers for Beauty and the Beast 3D, The Woman in Black, The Darkest Hour, Newlyweds, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Beauty and the Beast 3D After the success of the re-release for The Lion King 3D, Disney put the re-release for Disney and Pixar classics into motion, starting with Beauty and the Beast (even though it was suppose to start out with this film and not The Lion King). This may be a trailer for the 3D movie, but you can watch it on your 2D screen. Basically this is a trailer for those who love Beauty and the Beast and for those who have yet to experience it on the big screen. The Woman in Black The Woman in Black is Daniel Radcliffe’s first role post-Harry Potter. But he won’t be handling witches, he will be dealing with ghouls and ghosts. Some have commented that it has the potential to be scary, but judging by the trailers alone, the film isn’t scary enough. The Woman in Black is directed by James Watkins and will be released on February 6th.The Darkest Hour By the looks of the first trailer, The Darkest Hour looks more like the Russian version of Skyline, only with better actors and more active characters. The premise for The Darkest Hour sounds interesting enough and it looks as though Emile Hirsch is back. The Darkest Hour also stars Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella.Newlyweds Newlyweds is this week’s indie choice for Trailers Weekly, actually it was our only choice. The romantic drama which is scheduled to hit theaters December 26, finally has its first trailer, and it looks kind of quirky but yet it is so sweet. So who knows, maybe Newlyweds can be an indie hit. Newlyweds is directed by Edward Burns, who also stars in the film.Journey 2: The Mysterious IslandNot too long ago, we saw the trailer for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. And while it looked as though Dwayne Johnson was taking steps back in his action career, this international trailer may have changed a few minds. Despite the shoddy visual effects, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island looks surprisingly watchable. We’ll see if it all pans out when Journey 2: The Mysterious Island hits theaters on February 10th, 2012.
