The Buzz: Peter Jackson on 48 FPS, New Hulk Movie Possible, and Avengers Credit Scene

Dan Koelsch, May 4, 2012May 4, 2012

Buzz

The Buzz is a feature in which we round up the Top 3 most-buzzed-about movie/TV stories of the week (in chronological order). Why go through pages of blogs just to find out what everyone is talking about? We’ve got it all right here.

1) Peter Jackson Responds to 48FPS Criticism

Last week we talked about the reactions to footage shown at CinemaCon. One of the more interesting stories coming out of the convention was how the footage for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit didn’t go over so well, especially in the new 48 Frames Per Second format (current films are shown in 24FPS). A few days later, Jackson responded to the criticism, saying both that it does take a few minutes to get used to the new format, which was shown by how people didn’t complain about that later minutes of the footage. He also says that it’s a change that is coming no matter what. [/Film]

1) There Could Be A Hulk Movie in 2015

Marvel’s The Avengers opens today in theaters worldwide (as if you didn’t already know), and the buzz around the film is that The Incredible Hulk steals the show (I can confirm that he does). Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner with a great cautious mentality, and his motion capture work for Hulk really brings the big green monster to life. It doesn’t hurt that the he has a handful of jaw-dropping action sequences that definitely leave an impression. All the buzz might help get a new Hulk movie made. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said before the Avengers’ release that Hulk wasn’t getting another movie since there was already a TV show in the works, and we’ve already had two Hulk films. However, Marvel’s President of Consumer Products indicated that a new movie could happen in 2015 since Hulk’s sales are up.

1) Stay After All The Credits To See Another Avengers Scene

Speaking of The Avengers, you probably know (or at least assumed) that there is a scene after the credits. However, what you may not know is that there are actually TWO scenes. The first one, which most know about and was shown at the premiere, is after the stylized credits, but before the regular white-on-black credits. After the premiere, Robert Downey Jr. let loose at the press conference that another scene was being filmed, and it was later confirmed. That scene is at the VERY END of the movie, and while it may not be what you expect, it’s definitely worth checking out.
