Fan Creates Replica of “Community” Video Game Dan Koelsch, June 7, 2012 I was a little late to the game, but Community has become one of my favorite television shows of all time. The NBC comedy about a study group at a Colorado community college has become a cult hit, thanks in part to its plethora of pop culture references and “meta-humor”. One of the best examples of this is the May episode “Digital Estate Planning”, which takes place mostly in a 8-bit video game. Now a fan of the show has made his own version of the game. Get the details after the break. Reddit user Derferman started developing the game soon after the episode’s May 17th release and has posted new beta versions periodically in the /Hawthorne section. While it looks really good so far, it still has a long way to go. The Town interiors don’t exist yet, and there are other details needed to complete the game experience. You can download the latest version of the game here. Let us know what you think of the game so far, and what character you like to play (I’m partial to Troy). If you are unfamiliar with the episode or need a reminder, here is the official description, via The Huffington Post:PIERCE AND THE STUDY GROUP PAY A VISIT TO HAWTHORNE ENTERPRISES – GIANCARLO ESPOSITO GUEST STARS – Pierce (Chevy Chase) is summoned to Hawthorne Enterprises to discuss his inheritance with his deceased father’s former right-hand man, Gilbert Lawson (guest star Giancarlo Esposito, “Breaking Bad”). The study group goes with him for moral support and must all pitch in to play the video game of their life on Pierce’s behalf – or risk losing his inheritance. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover and Jim Rash also star. Fan Made Work Viral News CommunityNBC
