Trailers Weekly: “Frank And Robot,” “Frankenweenie,” “Looper,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “The Man with the Iron Fists,” And More Michael Lee, June 30, 2012December 27, 2012 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week provided us with so many trailers, so of course we will include our favorite ones this week, which includes Frank And Robot, EPIC, Frankenweenie, Looper, Silverlinings Playbook, The Man With The Iron Fists, and more. Frank and Robot A charming story about a retired jewel thief who decides to take up the job once more when he is given a robot caretaker, whom he never wanted in the first place. Frank Langella plays as Frank and Peter Sarsgaard provides the voice of the robot. Frankenweenie Tim Burton’s long awaited stop motion animated version of his film short is just on the horizon and with the film only a few months away, Disney has brought us a fresh new trailer that gives us a look at the story. Looper (International and Domestic) In the not so distant future, hit men called Loopers are assigned to kill their targets sent from an even further future where time travel is outlawed. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the best until he his assigned to kill his future self (played by Bruce Willis). Its a nice twist on an aging sci-fi plot. The film also stars Jeff Daniels and Emily Blunt. Silver Linings Playbook David O Russell’s film about two socially dysfunctional people coming together. There’s plenty of witty banter and straight to the point quotes, so if it looks like this, I’ll bite. The film stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. The Man with the Iron Fists For those who aren’t familiar with RZA or the Wu Tang Clan, the two pride themselves in being one of the biggest fans of classic kung-fu films. You know, the ones with the very cool fight scenes but really bad dubbing. Well Now comes RZA’s directorial debut (with the help of Eli Roth as a co-writer and Quentin Tarantino as a producer) of The Man with the Iron Fists. RZA must truly be a fan of the kung fu films of yesteryear because there are just so many signature motifs from that era. Crazy fights, beautiful women, and the classic kung fu battle cry. Alex Cross Morgan Freeman was the first the play as the character, and now the film is going in a more youthful direction with Tyler Perry now taking the role. Although the film looks as interesting as a made for tv movie, Matthew Fox’s character looks like absolute fun. What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite?
