CW “Arrow” Star Stephen Amell Tweets Viral Website Dan Koelsch, March 25, 2013 The CW’s new hit series Arrow is a gritty adaptation of the DC Comics character Green Arrow. The actor playing the archer, Stephen Amell tweeted a link today that takes you to a viral website. Get the details after the break. Below is the tweet from Amell, linking to gladesbetrayed.com. https://twitter.com/amellywood/status/316314327420383232In the show, the hero, whose alter ego is billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, takes down the rich and corrupt who are ruining Starling City. The Glades is the name for a poor and dangerous neighborhood within Starling City, and it is here where the effects of the powerful and corrupt hit hardest. The viral website reinforces this narrative, and even gives names of the corrupt. There is also a countdown that ends when the next episode airs, Wednesday at 8PM.The next episode is titled “Salvation”, but it doesn’t seem like the episode has anything to do with the Green Arrow graphic novel of the same name. Below is the official description of the episode. An angry resident of The Glades who calls himself “The Savior” (guest star Christopher Redman) embarks on a kidnapping and killing spree to punish those he believes have wronged the residents of his neighborhood. To make things worse, he broadcasts these murders online and claims he was inspired by Arrow’s (Stephen Amell) vigilantism. Oliver is horrified by this statement and vows to stop “The Savior,” but his manhunt in intensified after Thea (Willa Holland) comes to him in tears and tells him Roy (guest star Colton Haynes) has been kidnapped. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is surprised when her father (Paul Blackthorne) starts to believe her mother’s (guest star Alex Kingston) claim that Sara is still alive. Meanwhile, Malcom (John Barrowman) tells Moira (Susanna Thompson) to find the person responsible for his attempted murder. So, within the narrative of the viral, “The Savior” is the one who set up this website so that he could be a more public version of “The Hood”, as Queen’s hero is called by the citizens of Starling City. There doesn’t look to be much to the website right now, but we’ll keep an eye out for when the countdown ends. As a fan of the show, I would love to see this go somewhere. Viral Marketing ArrowCW
