Veronica Mars Movie Update: 4 Days to Go! Dan Koelsch, April 8, 2013April 7, 2013 The Veronica Mars Movie Project ends its Kickstarter crowdsourcing effort on Friday, and with around 73,000 backers and $4.8 million pledged, I think we can call it a great success. After the break, read some of the recent updates to the project. The Kickstarter project started on March 12th and quickly reached its $2 million goal by the end of the day, shattering the record for quickest to that amount. While it won’t be the highest funded project ever (that honor goes to the E-Paper Watch at over $10 million), it does have a chance at having the most backers ever. Currently, Double Fine Adventure has the record with 87,142, but Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas recently added a $1 pledge level to help reach that mark.Jason Dohring, who played Veronica’s love interest badboy Logan Echolls, has officially signed up for the movie, joining only Mars herself Kristin Bell. However, other prominent cast members are expected to sign on soon. While most of the official updates about the project have been exclusive to backers, we have learned that the first draft of the script is complete. In that same update, Thomas explains more about where the money is going to, including the potential length of the movie and where it will be filmed. Thomas also revealed a Director’s Cut to the Kickstarter launch video, which you can see below. With only 4 days left, it’s up to you to help the Veronica Mars movie be as great as possible. With the $5 million mark looming and the potential to break the record for number of backers, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t donate at least one dollar. The Kickstarter has also updated to show a few T-shirt designs that respective backers get to choose from. Viral Marketing Veronica Mars
