Trailers Weekly: August: “Osage County,” “Homefront,” “Ghost Team One,” “Grudge Match,” and “Open Window” Michael Lee, September 14, 2013 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from August: Osage County, Homefront, Ghost Team One, Grudge Match, and Open Window. Hit the jump to see them all. August: Osage County Based on the play of the same name, August Osage County features Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Margot Martindale, and Benedict Cumberbatch in a dark, hilarious and deeply touching story of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose lives have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Midwest house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them. August Osage County hits theaters November 8. Homefront Jason Statham in a Sylvester Stallone-scripted film about an ex-DEA agent fighting to protect his daughter from Gator, a meth king pin, in a quiet southern town. Sounds like a typical team up at first. But then we come to find out that Gator is played by, none other than, James Franco. While it looks like your typical action flick on paper, Franco’s habit of playing any unexpected roles, is something we should expect from the actor. Homefront opens in theaters November 27. Ghost Team One Comedic parodies of genre films are a dime a dozen, with most recent efforts just being lazy and uninteresting. But Ghost Team One has the potential to be a hit. When roommates Brad (J.R. Villarreal) and Sergio (Carlos Santos) accidentally arouse the dead, they team up with sexy amateur ghost hunter, Fernanda (Fernanda Romero), to expose the evil inside their home. But just as the guys start to get close to their hot new partner, they discover that a horny demon wants in on the action. Now, cameras are up, and more than fear is rising in this outrageous romp where only one thing is certain: someone is gonna get screwed. The film drops into theaters October 11. Grudge Match Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro play two former boxers who get inspired to get back into the ring after an , unfinished match everyone has been waiting for. Sounds a little bit familiar, but it’s not entirely the Raging Bull versus Rocky film that cinephiles have been waiting for. But when backed up by the comedic likings of Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin, it does have potential. Grudge Match opens in theaters on December 25. Open Windows Elijah Wood has turned to smaller more indie roles since his days as a hobbit in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Following his role as a crazed serial killer in Maniac, Wood now plays a uber fan, who after winning a contest, has exclusive access to all the cameras of an actress’ house. The actress played by Sasha Grey is however in danger, and can only live is Wood’s character does as he is told. The interesting thing about Open windows is that the audience sees everything through a computer window interface. Not the most ingenious way to see things. Open Windows which will likely hit theaters and VOD sometime in 2014 What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite? Do you agree with the Internet buzz?
