Trailers Weekly: “The Raid 2: Berandal”, “Ride Along”, “The Truth About Emanuel”, “RoboCop”, “Winter’s Tale” Michael Lee, November 9, 2013December 11, 2013 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from The Raid 2: Berandal, Ride Along, The Truth About Emanuel, RoboCop and Winter’s Tale. Hit the jump to see them all.Ride Along Kevin Hart and Ice Cube star in this buddy cop film that isn’t so buddy cop. Ice Cube plays an experienced detective who takes his sister’s fiance on a ride along to scare the hell out of him. Things go wrong when they run into actual criminal activity and need to find a way to get themselves out of it. John Leguizamo also stars in Ride Along, directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four) and written by Greg Coolidge. The film hits theaters early next year on January 17th. The Truth About Emanuel Francesca Gregorini (Tanner Hall) writes and directs The Truth About Emanuel (formally titled Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes. Emanuel (Kaya Scodelario), a troubled girl, becomes preoccupied with her mysterious new neighbor (Jessica Biel), who bears a striking resemblance to her dead mother. In offering to babysit her newborn, Emanuel unwittingly enters a fragile, fictional world, of which she becomes the gatekeeper. Alfred Molina and Frances O’Connor. The film opens on January 10. The Raid 2: Berndal Iko Ukwais returns to play Rama, one of three police officers who survived a botched police raid from the first film. According to director Gareth Evans, sequel will take place two hours after the vents of the first film. In order to protect his family, Rama is assigned to infiltrate a notorious crime ring and expose the police corruption within his own unit. Arifin Putra, Alex Abad, Oka Antara, Tio Pakusadewo, Julie Estelle, Cecep Arif Rahman, Cok Simbara, Yayan Ruhian, Matsuda Ryuhei, Endo Kenichi, and Kitamura Kazuki also star. Sony Pictures Classic picked up the U.S. distribution rights (they were the company to distribute the first one). No release date has been set. Winter’s Tale Akiva Goldsman‘s Winter’s Tale is no ordinary time travel romance. The film takes place over two generations beginning with Colin Farrell playing a thief falling in love with terminally ill young woman (Jessica Brown Findlay) he is trying to steal from. However, Russell Crowe plays a gangster boss who is bent on forcing Farrell’s character to get what he wants. The film then changes settings to the present day with Farrell’s character not having aged a day, not knowing who is former love is, the crimes he committed. Until Jennifer Connelly helps him piece his past together. The film, also written by Goldsmith based on the book of the same name written by Mark Helprin, opens in theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014. RoboCop The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice. Directed by José Padilha, RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earl Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel and Samuel L. Jackson.
