“RoboCop” Viral Marketing Searches For Human Volunteers Michael Lee, January 28, 2014January 28, 2014 Much of the RoboCop viral marketing campaign has centered around the technological conglomerate OmniCorp. This is the company that turned a nearly dead Alex Murphy into the new cybernetic threat against crime. In past campaigns, we have seen RoboCop in PSAs and participate in CES panels, but now the company is looking for volunteers, human volunteers, who want to better their lives and break free of the restrictions of being human. Hit the jump to see how you can sign up.Okay that may be a bit of a stretch to think that you can actually be like RoboCop, but that’s part of the fun of this viral campaign. While OmniCorp is known to design killer robots, this video was designed to make a case for it’s softer and more human side. There are a few clips from the film that are spliced into the background presentation, much of it we have already seen through clips and trailers. So take a look at the video, and see if you think your life could be better with some OmniCorp tech.In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years — and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) — a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit — is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.Directed by José Padilha, RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel, and Samuel L. Jackson. Sony Pictures will release RoboCop into theaters on February 7.
