LOST News Round-Up: Getting Ready For The End Alex Gerage, January 23, 2010January 23, 2010 I’ve never seen an episode of LOST in my life, yet I understand the significance of the show’s upcoming final season. Since it began in 2004, LOST has captured the attention of millions, and has become a bona fide cultural phenomenon in a way network television shows rarely do anymore. With the days dwindling down before the big premiere of the final season, ABC is going to great lengths to drum up word of mouth and cash in on the hype. Firstly, a great video has emerged on YouTube that has captured the attention of many LOST fans. It actually shows the crash of Oceanic 815 in real time (24 style), using various clips from the show. Very impressive and gives you a good look at what happened. Secondly, ABC.com has posted every LOST episode to date and is streaming them for all to view. This is a great opportunity for fans to refresh their knowledge about the show, or for newcomers to jump in and possibly get hooked before the final season kicks off. You’ll probably not have access to free shows like this for long, so take advantage of the opportunity while you can. If you need an additional LOST fix, I would suggest heading over to iTunes for some free content. There, they’ve got free videos that recap seasons 1-5, preview season 6, and much more. They will also be sure to have the newest episodes for download soon after they air next month. Lastly, I give the show creators credit for the decision they made long ago by prematurely setting a series endpoint. Despite the show’s success and financial incentive to keep producing seasons, the LOST team has stuck to their plan. By doing so, they’ve not only avoided dragging the show past its creative prime (an illness that’s now infecting The Office), but they’ve created a social event for aficionados to look forward to and hype. LOST fans know this is it, and they’re going to make the most of it. The final season of LOST begins February 2nd on ABC. News LOST
