District 9 Action Figures and Statues Are Here! Kris, January 27, 2010January 27, 2010 District 9 fans have been waiting a while for something like this to be made, and wait no more: District 9 models are here (not the hot wife)! It’s been a while, but after going through home-made alien hands, miniature Exo-Suits, and an ARC gun, we’ve finally got ourselves a detailed statue of a prawn head.Joe Dunaway is the artist behind this detailed work. He’s made over 230 albums for multiple movies and has now taken a whack at District 9. Yes, you can consider him an expert. Being a crazy District 9 myself, I can honestly say he does the movie’s alien design justice except for one tiny detail: the eyes. After watching the movie 15+ times I can honestly say that it’s a noticeable mistake to have the eyes that small. Maybe the poor prawn hasn’t eaten catfood for a week and has gotten drowsy. It’s great, but accurate as it may be, it’s still not official. If you want official work, the only way you’re going to get it is from WETA, the designers of the District 9 aliens.Which you will be able to, and sometime soon. That’s right, WETA is releasing limited edition collectibles of your favorite District 9 characters.Do you like Joe’s work? Let us know in the comments!District 9 is available on Blu Ray and DVD, and you can check out the rest of Joe Dunaway’s crafty work at Modelzone.com News District 9

2012: Viral Commercial Brings Mainstream Attention August 26, 2009September 9, 2009I was watching Ghost Hunters when an commercial for TheIHC.com came up. I was quite surprised, to say the least. It’s very well done, the only thing I have against it is the fact they flash Colombia and the “FILM NOT YET RATED” logos, but it’s only for a few… Read More

I’m not a big fan of D9 however, having watched the movie I agree the eyes should have been made bigger. He looks like a mixture of sleepy and caring.
