The Office: Kathy Bates Buys Dunder Mifflin Corey, January 31, 2010January 31, 2010 NBC’s The Office is probably one of the funniest shows on TV right now, which is sadly one of the last great things NBC has going for it. The Office is about a camera crew following and documenting the events that happen at the paper supply company Dunder Mifflin. Dunder Mifflin has many branches throughout the American Northeast with a branch in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the branch the show focuses on. This branch is run by Michael Scott who is played by Steve Carrell who can be funny, annoying and, serious all within the same scene. The Office is in the midst of it 6th season and for those who are unfamiliar with the show, Dunder Mifflin was just bought out, but by whom? Kathy Bates. No, not actually Kathy Bates but, Jo Bennett, the character she plays in The Office. Jo Bennett is the Chief Executive Officer of Sabre Corp, a printer selling company, and on their main website Sabre Corp announces the acquisition of Dunder Mifflin. The website itself seems brand new with no clickable links (yet) and a very basic layout. The links you can click say “Come back soon for a Brand New Sabre Corp!”. Dunder Mifflin’ own website (around since 2007) really has no mention of company being bought out my Sabre Corp. I had to look for a while but eventually came across the news letter mentioning the future of Dunder Mifflin. Here is the news letter: FROM: Dunder Mifflin ManagementTO: All Dunder Mifflin EmployeesSUBJECT: Dunder Mifflin Joins Sabre Dear Colleagues, By now you have probably heard stories regarding the ownership of Dunder Mifflin. Allow us to take this opportunity to shed some light on our company’s future. We are very pleased to announce that Dunder Mifflin will be joining the Sabre Corporate family. This marks a high point in our company’s history. Rest assured that Sabre will do all they can to make this transition as smooth as possible. At this time, it is important that we keep our focus on our every day activities and continue to deliver the kinds of results that have made Dunder Mifflin what it is today. It is an exciting time, and these are exciting possibilities. We are confident that you, our employees, are the best team to face the challenges and seize the opportunities that lay ahead. This promises to be a very exciting journey for all of us.Regards, Dunder Mifflin Management Hopefully we’ll see more of the site as the season progresses. The Office airs at 9/8c Thursdays on NBC.
