You Got Your District 9 In My 2012 Scott Caldwell, August 14, 2009August 14, 2009 So hopefully it was the same for all viewers of District 9 this weekend, that you got a sneak peek at some new stuff from 2012. This would have been BEFORE the previews, so if you were late, then you may just have to wait for it to be released online. The scene shows Charlie Frost, our beloved wikipedia of 2012 info, taking calls, as he does in his viral videos. However, a straggler shows up to his basement to find out just what he’s blabbering about. It’s none other than Jackson Curtis (John Cusack)! Charlie continues to school Mr. Curtis in the art of the apocalypse all while informing him of his free blog, which he does not name. He tells him to watch this (from ThisIsTheEnd.com): It then goes into clips that we have all seen from the trailer. Then, at the end, www.thisistheend.com shows on the screen. It’s interesting that the official site whowillsurvive2012.com is not mentioned. Wonderful way to plug another Sony film. I could hear some people’s confusion, and interest when the site came to the screen. Very smart move by Sony to get the next viral noticed. District 9 is in theaters now, and 2012 will be released November 13th. For more information on the 2012 viral campaign, check out our 2012 page. Viral Marketing 2012District 9
