Exclusive: Check Out This Confidential Crazies File Dan Koelsch, February 10, 2010October 18, 2011 We at MovieViral have fortunately gotten a lot of feedback from the companies involved in the marketing of The Crazies. This is not always the case, so it’s nice when we know they care. This time, however, we got a little something extra in the form of a “Confidential” file on the “Ogden Marsh Township”. I’m talking an actual package in the mail! To see photos and analysis of the file, as well as what it’s really for, you know what you have to do. After I opened the package, I immediately see the file stamped with “CONFIDENTIAL” and covered in bloody fingerprints. When I open the file, there’s a letter and three black and white photos attached to the file by paperclip. Take a look below (click on the images to see larger versions). So, yes, this is an invite to a screening, and a clever one at that. While the big red invitation stamp called out to me, I noticed the letter underneath is actually in character. It’s from Samuel, a staff writer at the Pierce County Gazette, and he is addressing an editor (in this case, me). Here’s what the letter says:February 24th, 2010 Dear Editor: I hope you receive this letter. I am writing to you in a desperate attempt to bring to light what has been happening in our small town of Ogden Marsh. There have been uncontrollable acts of violence and all communication has been shut down. Two days ago, the military moved in and enacted martial law. I’ve heard reports of residents being separated from their families. The attached photos are all I’ve been able to document since their arrival. Please send a reporter or anyone who can help expose what is happening here to the national media. Don’t let us down, we desperately need your help. In Solidarity, Samuel O. Simpson Staff Writer 424-204-4101 So, what happens when you call the number? You get Sam’s answering machine, where I left a message just in case it leads to something (i.e. the District 9 Community Watch). What about those photos? Take a look for yourself below (again, click to view larger). So, what do you think? Does this shed any light on the Crazies viral campaign? This is the first I’m hearing of the Pierce County Gazette, as we’ve come to know the Ogden Marsh Gazette as the local paper. Could this lead to another viral site? Viral Video: 28 Drinks Later January 22, 2010January 22, 201028 Days Later is one of my favorite films (I admit I have a soft spot for zombie flicks). I’ve seen a few parodies of the film before, but this one is so far my favorite. Originally featured on Funny or Die, 28 Drinks Later tells the story of a… Read More
Viral Video: Gaga In Wonderland March 21, 2010With Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland tearing up the box office, it’s no surprise we are getting plenty of parody videos taking on the odd film. Moviefone has a few different ones, but the one that caught my eye was the spoof trailer “Gaga in Wonderland” by Black 20 Studios,… Read More
Spider-Man and USPS Partner For ‘Amazing Delivery’ Campaign March 20, 2014March 20, 2014With seemingly dozens of trailers and clips already released, I was beginning to think Sony Pictures and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were going to forgo traditional product tie-ins and promotional campaigns, and instead just inundate fans with footage from the movie until it’s released in full in May. While more preview footage is… Read More
