Lost Fans Campaign To Be Included In The Credits Craig Skinner, February 23, 2010 In a tribute to the fans of The Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson included all the charter members of the Lord of the Rings fan club on the credits of the DVD release of the trilogy. This resulted in very very long credits but provided a nice tribute to the fanbase that had supported Jackson and the films. Now LOST fans are taking a cue from this event. A group of Spanish LOST fans have gotten together to demand the same for the Lost fanbase. They have recently decided to try and spread their message worldwide. Below is something of a mission statement taken from their website. When the last part of “Lord of the Rings” was released on DVD, the names of the whole fan community around the world were included on the credits, as a special extra. We ask for the same thing in the DVD/BluRay edition of the 6th season of Lost: the addition of the names of those who have been watching, making crazy theories, commenting and writing about the character’s issues and the chessboard they seem to be in. For a proper and well-earned tribute to Lost fans! Thanks, Namaste and good luck. I really like this idea, as I cannot think of another series that generates the amount of online activity from its fans that LOST does. There are such a large number of LOST fansites, podcasts, and forums, and it is this obsession with the show and unravelling it’s many mysteries that has helped its popularity, and contributed to the fanbase growing strength. The fans of LOST are important to the show beyond just viewing figures, and I for one would be pleased to see the names of all the devoted fans scrolling down the screen at the the end of the final episode. Do you think it will happen? Check out the tribute video created by The Fan Initiative embedded below and go and sign up on Facebook (3000 fans so far). Viral Marketing ABCBlu-RayDVDLOSTPetition
