Guillermo Del Toro To Announce Next Project At Comic-Con, Van Helsing Not Certain Dan Koelsch, June 14, 2010 This seems to be the month de Guillermo, as we have yet another story about what the acclaimed director of Pan’s Labrinyth is working on next. He’s already dropped out of directing Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit, and he is supposedly working on another Van Helsing adaptation. What’s he really working on? It looks like we’ll find out pretty soon. Guillermo reached out to his official fan club, Del Toro Films, to keep the speculation at bay, and to let everyone know when he’ll…let everyone know what’s coming up next for him. Read the official statement below. Van Helsing (writing and producing) is still in talks and not quite certain. Even then, I would like to share my plans only at COMICON. I am taking it slowly and marking very, very carefully the calendar of projects that I will be involved as producer, writer, etc I will not announce the project I intend to direct until then . I am very happy to say that all the projects and partnerships being considered are both quite surprising and, I hope, powerful. Much as I want, I cannot say much more at this time but I anxiously await to share these with you. I will be shopping on the floor in San Diego for several days. See you there!! So, in just over a month (Comic-Con starts July 21st), we should know what Del Toro is up to. As he alludes to, there are a lot of projects on his plate, so even if Van Helsing goes through, it may not be immediate. We’ll of course be covering San Diego Comic-Con live from the convention floor alongside our partners at FusedFilm, and we’ll bring you any updates we discover.
