Super 8: Rocket Poppeteers Site Updated To Let You Fly The Rocket SSF1 Dan Koelsch, August 4, 2010August 4, 2010 Last week the Rocket Poppeteers website finally opened, giving us our first glimpse at what many are calling the new Slusho. The structure of this site seems to support that moniker, as there is a lot of pointless things you can do in the newly opened section, “Fly the Rocket SSF1”. Find out more about the updated site after the break. For those needing to catch up, the site is for a fictional ice cream bar that is part of the viral for J.J. Abrams’ Super 8. Slusho was the viral sweet treat for the Abrams-produced Cloverfield, so if this stays the course, then Rocket Poppeteers may be a big part of the back story for the film, but only play on a cameo role on screen. Slusho’s website was full of detail, but none of it lead to any actual information on the film itself. It was mostly misdirection, like a flavor robots. Followers of the Super 8 viral are scouring the details of this site as well, and the newly opened section hopes to provide some clues. You get to be in the cockpit of the Rocket SSF1 and fly it to different locations, “The Rocket Poppeteers Legacy”, “P.M.C.”, “Uncharted Territory”, “Poppeteers Pride”, “Coop’s Amazing Adventures”, “Space Station: Freezer”, “Astronaut Program”, and “Super Space Store”. Unfortunately, most these locations are locked, as you get various in-game reasons why you can’t yet go. Interestingly, the only location open is the “Space Station: Freezer”, which shows you the different flavors as rankings (Slusho robots anyone?). The viewing window shows a cartoon outer space complete with things flying by and even Captain Coop outside in a space suit. You may recognize these images from the hidden pages found on Unfiction. There are a few buttons and knobs you can click to make noises, but other than that they don’t really do anything. So, check out the site and let us know what you find!
