Marketing For Disney’s “Tangled” Picks Up With Double Rainbow Parody Kris, September 8, 2010 If Disney’s Tangled, an animated alternative tale of Rapunzel, has proved anything, it’s that Disney has a unique marketing department. So far it’s been all concept art and no new trailers (with actual scenes from the movie) or even tidbits of its musical numbers. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, they make a hilarious viral video that makes fun of the popular Double Rainbow viral video. Watch more after the jump. If you haven’t seen the original Double Rainbow video, I’d recommend watching it beforehand. Now, here’s the parody from Tangled’s Facebook page. This is the first of five to be released this month, appropriately titled “Double Tower.” Hilarious, I know. Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi) is the male lead in the film, and is the narrator of the video. Flynn is way too excited about the tower for his own good. In regards to the movie though, we get a wider look of Rapunzel’s tower and a far away view of Mother Grothel. There will be another video tomorrow, so in the meantime you can watch the Tangled preview below. If you’re sad at how quiet Disney has been with this movie, keep in mind that this is Disney’s first CGI animated 3D musical that still follows close to Disney’s classic style, so they’re bound to be hesitant at how to market it in the first place. Considering that Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast, Pocahontas) and Glenn Slater (also Little Mermaid) are behind the music, it shouldn’t disappoint. Tangled is to be released in theaters on Novermber 24, 2010. Viral Marketing Viral Videos DisneyRapunzelTangledViral video

“Glenn Slater (also Little Mermaid)”….While it’s true that Alan Menken did the music for the original The Little Mermaid movie, it has to be said that Glen Slater wasn’t involved in that movie at all. He contributed some lyrics for the broadway show while it ran, and those were little known songs that didn’t seem to capture anyone’s attention. The songs from the movie that everyone knows were done by Menken and Howard Ashman.
