Tron Legacy Viral Is Back, Tron Night 2010 Announced Dan Koelsch, October 8, 2010October 9, 2010 The intense viral campaign and ARG for Disney’s Tron Legacy took a break back in May (not including its brief yet extensive presence at Comic-Con), but now with only two months until the film’s release, it’s back, and presumably in full force. Get the details on the latest viral puzzle from Flynn Lives, as well as advanced knowledge of something called “Tron Night”, after the break. It started this afternoon with the Tron Legacy Facebook page teasing an update. Then the page and the Flynn Lives website posted a link reminiscent of the early days of the viral. If you go to the non-user friendly URL xdqlrpgmqivgca9tfjcqddnbxt.com, you see a dazzling array of colors and three numbered boxes. When you click on the boxes, you get zip files containing Word documents. These documents contain what Unfiction members have figured out to be sections of a big ASCII art photo. The contents of each Word file can also be translated to binary code, which eventually leads to the terms “tron night 2010”. To see how its done, you’ll have to check out Unfiction. That phrase leads to a website, TronNight2010.com, which is a site to promote special free screenings around the world of 20 minutes of the film in IMAX 3D. Tickets here in the States will be available on October 12th, and the event will be October 28th. Pretty exciting stuff. You may remember last year when a puzzle (and dead drop game) lead to a similar event, though only the trailer was screened. This 20 minute preview (and special naming) reminds me a lot of last year’s Avatar Day, in which 16 minutes of the James Cameron film was screened.
