New ‘Star Wars Arcade’ App Seats You in the Millennium Falcon Alex Gerage, November 30, 2010 I don’t own an iPhone or the iPod Touch, so I have been unable to enjoy the thousands of apps that have come out in recent years. If I did though, this would be the first one I would download. THQ Wireless Inc. has released a new mobile game called Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner. The first-person shooting game places you inside the Millennium Falcon as you battle TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers at different galaxy locales. Hit the jump to see a demo and learn about an awesome add-on the game provides. As if playing from the perspective of your favorite Star Wars heroes weren’t enough, THQ includes a feature in the game that allows you to play with your actual location as the backdrop:“For iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G users, an optional augmented reality mode lets players use a device’s camera to overlay enemy fighters on top of their natural surroundings and the device’s compass or gyroscope to enable 360-degree, full body motion control movement. A free update scheduled to come over the next several weeks will also let users take and share augmented reality photos from within the Falcon‘s turret. On the iPad, players can use the native compass for a similar control scheme against high-definition graphics.”The accompanied demo video of a Tie Fighter battle over the New York City skyline is simply awesome. Be sure to check out the official Star Wars website for more information. Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner can be downloaded now for $4.99 on iTunes. Viral Marketing iPhoneStar WarsVideo Game
