Interview: “Gnomeo and Juliet” Director Kelly Asbury Michael Lee, February 11, 2011February 12, 2011 One might think the story of Gnomeo and Juliet bares too much of a resemblances to Toy Story, when in actuality the story of inanimate objects coming of life is as old as time itself. Director Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2) brings us the story of Gnomeo and Juliet; an animated tale based on the Shakespeare tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”. But it is more than just gnomes reciting lines from the famous English playwright, it also combines songs from Sir Elton John. If you are a fan of Shakespeare, Sit Elton John, or even garden gnomes this is one interview you don’t want to miss, so hit the jump if you want to listen to it. Recently, the director gave us a moment of his time for a one on one interview on how he came onto the project. Asbury humbly told us how wonderful it was to work with a large British cast, especially one with so many Sir and Dame titles. The director also gave us insight on what it was like to work with a variety of animation mediums and animation studios. You also can check out my review of the movie here.
