Become a Test Subject For the Human Preservation Project

Dan Koelsch, May 24, 2011June 1, 2011

A MovieViral reader who goes by Jonny Quest has clued us in to a pretty interesting alternate reality game website. The site is TestSubjectsNeeded.com, and is part of what these people are calling the Human Preservation Project. What is it for, and was it found? Get the details after the break.

When you go to the website, you are greeted with a long paragraph about how the tests are not conventional and that they are looking for particular people to undergo experiments that will seemingly enhance their senses. The flashing “Start Evaluation Now” link takes you to the test, which is a LOST/Clockwork Orange barrage of images and sounds accompanied by questions about how you feel and such. It’s actually a bit disturbing.

After your test, the site asks you to create a profile and sign up. They don’t say who they are, only that this is for the Human Preservation Project. There don’t seem to be any clues as to what they’re preserving us from, or how enhancing senses (if that is even what they are planning to do) would achieve that.

What we do know, also thanks to Jonny, is that this is probably a campaign for 5 Gum, a brand of Wrigley gum whose slogan, “Stimulate Your Senses”, flashes on the screen near the end of the test. If true, it’s a bit of a let down, but a smart viral marketing ploy nontheless. Jonny found the site through a bit of morse code in the DC comic Flashpoint.

What do you think of the site? Is it a letdown if this is for gum? Let us know in the comments below.

I found the game code on a pack of 5 gum. I started playing the game yesterday. What I want to know is, where is the game hints? Am I really supposed to plow through every conceivable combination of 4 2-digit numbers to crack the puzzle? And what is the deal with the music puzzle? What tones am I supposed to be listening for? Until my next pack of gum I won’t be getting anymore codes. I have almost as much of the puzzles completed as are possible to do without more information. Does anyone know the email for the game-help department?
