Trailers Weekly: “Shame,” “John Carter,” “The Raid,” “Wrong,” and “The Grey” Michael Lee, December 3, 2011December 3, 2011 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we have the red band trailer for Shame, John Carter, The Raid, Wrong, and The Grey. Check them out after the jump. ShameWith Shame already out in theaters, Fox Searchlight is letting everyone know, they Shame will go untouched and stick with its NC-17 rating. Normally the NC-17 would kill any film, but not this one. Shame has been getting rave reviews, and many are interested in seeing how such a film is making an impact among the awards circuit. This new red band trailer exemplifies the power and emotion of sexual addiction.John CarterThere were mixed reactions when first John Carter trailer was released. At first it seems a bit to emotional, and none of the story was revealed. This second trailer seems to be the trailer they should of released in the first place. It has action and great visual landscapes. But its alien-cgi could use some work. Other than that, John Carter could be lining itself up to be one great sci-fi epic. The RaidThis Indonesian action film is fueled by nothing but pure adrenaline. There seems to be absolutely no dialogue in it and that’s okay, because I may be Indonesian myself, but I don’t understand the language. This trailer is nothing but cops and drug runners getting punched, kicked, shot, stabbed, and thrown into walls. It looks crazy, but if you just want action and nothing else, then this is your movie.WrongWrong, from Rubber director Quentin Dupieux aka Mr. Oizo, has gone unnoticed. No one really knew of this until the trailer made its debut this week, and it is perhaps one of the strangest trailer for film I have ever seen. It actually acts more like a jumbled music video, but the way it flows its very intriguing. And many agree. The GreyLiam Neeson is taking command of the movie screen yet again in The Grey. His survival knowhow and his leadership skills in the newest trailer is a clear indication of that. But even with Neeson’s star power and the great set pieces, the CGI wolves look like rabid binary numbers. Not sure how much time they have left in post-production, but with a little over a month left in production, if they had to fix anything it must be those CGI wolves.
