Strange Noises Heard Around The World Could Have Scientific Explanation

Earlier this week, we reported on a phenomenon sweeping the Internet in which strange noises were heard around the world. These roars/groans from the sky are a bit frightening, which may have contributed to videos of the occurance flooding YouTube (along with many hoaxes). While we considered the idea that the sounds were some kind of marketing ploy, we now have at least one scientific explanation that might resolve this issue. Find out after the jump.

I was surfing YouTube last night when I found the video below. It’s a news report from Canadian channel CTV that talks about the sounds.

The professor in the clip explains that the sounds are coming from the Aurora Borealis (aka the Northern Lights) causing electromagnetic noise within nearby environmental antennas. It sounds a bit like the Roswell weather ballon explanation to me, especially since these noises have not been heard before (at least not recently, since this is the first time the Internet has been up in arms about it). What do you think? Is this a good explanation?

  1. 2012 changed something? really.. actually since 45BC, Caesar created leap years, there has been about 514 leap year days since then and so today’s date would actually be around July of 2013, the Mayans didnt account for leap years and so technically, the world should have ended about 7 months ago.

  3. Thank you Imurdreama for speaking out against immature use of this social media. I have heard these noises on and off since January 2012. I had been dismissing them until now.. All the various desciptions like trumpets, trains with locked brakes, techtonic plates shifting/earth groans and even musical would be appropriate to try to describe my experience. What makes the sound unique from others is the inability to get a “fix” as to where the sounds are eminating from. Up, down and all around, it surrounds you.

  5. I to heard these sounds and they were from outside like it was in the wind. It was very windy down here, and for some reason the sounds came back. I thought it was the band of angels sounding there trumpets. We really dont know whats gonna happen but i think if this world gets any worse what else is there left to have done? Maybe this is good, or maybe this bad..

I live in New Mexico and we recently heard the sounds as well and thought it might be a nearby train at first but no train, the sound was a bit off and not really like anything we heard before and there was a small vibration in the ground.   Whole family went outside puzzled and could not tell exactly where the sound was coming from … sky … ground … neighbors … etc.

    Didn’t make anything of it until I heard the videos from all over the world and sure enough those are EXACTLY what we heard here as well!    Had no idea at the time that the sound we heard encompassed the entire planet worldwide!

  7. Heard a “noise” – not a trumpet – a roaring/moaning pulsating sound.  It had a pattern – which – nothing in nature does 😉

  10. Hoax,Scientific Reasoning or overactive imiginations very well could be the logical explainations. However, since we at this time are all just giving opinions,so i just want to add one more probability. For my opinion to even be given any consideration you would have to be open minded in regard to The Word Of God. We need only look around us to see that the words spoken in the Old and Newtestaments were impossible to be able to be fulled 100 years ago,but such knowledge in technolgy have hastened us to the time now that bible prophecy is well able to and is coming to pass quickly. An example of this is 100 years ago, our fathers could not even imagination people all around the world being able to see the two witnessess spoken of in Revelation11:1-14. Verse 9 “And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three and a half days………” Until these times those things spoken were not possible at all. To cause His word to be fullfilled,He has given man increased knowledge and now we can sit in our recliners ,here in the US. and watch what going on in the streets of israel as it happens. The love of self has indeed come to pass,men desiring men,women desiring women. The weather has become a major focal factor.Earthquakes are indeed happening in more unlikely places as well as more often. Pestilence,drought,nations raising up aganist nation almost on a global basis. Because of the desires for things,for pleasure, iniquity is abounding and many who were once partakers and members of the body of Christ have indeed waxed cold. Prosperty messages now take the place of salvation messages. CHILDREN beat,verablly abuse and steal from their own parenrs and grandparents. Far to many women and men think adultry, the breaking up of homes and families,an institution that God ordained, is just a social issue. Many babies are being aborted for no reason except they dont want the responsibility,while still other children are being abandoned,abused and going hungry. Why did i say all this,because it is a sign that the coming of the Lord is at hand. Read about the nations that will come aganist Israel.How that a one world religion will arise,one that is contary to Jesus as the Son Of God who died for our sins. Could that be one of the reasons for the gaint increase and intrest in religions such as “muslim and islamic.” Hag.2:6 says the heavens will be shaken. Could it be possible that the LORD GOD is trying yet another time to get our atteention before it is too late. Joel2;30 “I will show wonders in the heavens.” It is not IS the LORD coming?   13. I highly doubt that thousands of people all over the world decided they were going to create an ellaborate hoax. Some of what is being posted out there is real.

  14.  The second coming of Jesus was according to Jesus gonna be closely after his ascent and some young people in his time would be their to witness it, secondly – isn’t this what the reverent said when the twin towers went down, it’s the gays fault and the adulterers fault for bringing divine justice.

  15. we have entered an age where immorality has bcome the norm. being moral and loving something higher then your self is considered freakish and abnormal. It is one of the precepts of satanism to love yourself and your possesions. Everything is material..we cannot look beyond what is in front of our eyes. This might have a natural explaination..but we cannot escape the possibility that this is just another warning of things to come
